The different types of Depression

One of the most disabling of medical conditions is depression because it is not a normal human condition; doctors now know there are various forms, each with its own individual characteristics. People suffer for different reasons but basically it is a result of having some unresolved issues in their lives; although we can all become depressed about situations on occasion. People who are depressed require specialized medical help with their condition and should seek it at an early stage; it is also important to discover just what has caused the problem in the fist place.Throughout our lives there will be many occasions when we will feel low in the same way that there are times when you feel really happy; this is especially true if you've had a recent traumatic experience in your life, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you're suffering from depression. Many people have problems caused by personal issues in relationships or family situations; when these issues cannot be resolved and cause high levels of stress, it is not uncommon for this condition to follow. Problems have a tendency to multiply when they are not corrected and this is very true with this particular condition; a person end up feeling more helpless than they did before, and it becomes a vicious circle that must be broken.  When things get out of hand, it is possible that the patient will become so incapacitated as to require using  power wheel chairs. Sometimes it might be a person's career that is causing the problem with a stressful workplace or tension with colleagues that make normal functioning difficult; in all probability this will lead to a situation where the person who is depressed may even have a panic attack. The situation can become so bad that some people are barely able to function either at home or at work; at that point it is imperative they receive urgent medical help to work through these problems. There are times where a person has been prescribed medication for an illness, for example, and a side effect caused by the chemicals in the medication is depression; this is a problem for the person on medication especially where no external situation exists that could actually have caused the condition.Such people will need to consult their doctors so that the right treatment can be prescribed and the symptoms disappear. Where the cause for the depression cannot be found, the task of curing the condition becomes much harder; this type of situation makes resolving the issues all the more difficult. The difficulty is getting to person to admit to the problem in the first instance; if they cannot associate the cause with their condition then the way forward is made very hard. One type of is called Manic Depression although the correct term is Bipolar Disorder; it can actually take up to five years to get the diagnosis correct! When a person is unable to deal with their own issues, this condition will usually follow and at that point, provided they can admit they have a problem, something can normally be done. Just making that first move can make all the difference and enable the patient to feel as if they are making appositive move towards their treatment; a full recovery is possible providing you take the appropriate steps.
