Some Retirement Plans Are Not As Simple As They Seem

Like most financial retirement products, understanding how a simple IRA works is not always simple to everybody. It is important to have a clear understanding of the plan in order to make an informed decision about your retirement future. First, if an employer decides to establish a simple IRA retirement plan in which it matches the employees’ contributions, the employee will have to make a contribution in order to benefit from the plan. Alternately, if an employer decides to participate in the non-elective IRA, employees do not have to make a contribution in order to have access to the plan.

Having opened

a small business this year, I thought it’d be a good idea to finally look into setting up a retirement plan for myself as the only employee of the business, because this is a good way to leverage tax savings on my earnings.  So I’ve been researching a sep ira, and found it to be quite easy as the sep ira contribution deadline is drop dead simple, just like an IRA, I only need to contribute before I file my tax return.  In fact, if I decide to file an extension (not that I’m planning to, though I’ve been told the rate of audit on extensions is lower), I have until my extended file date to contribute.  I like easy.

The trouble is I’ve got no idea how much coverage to get. I mean, I suppose it’s a matter of imagining what could go wrong.
Ok - that’s it for today.

If ever there it were clear that we live in a global economy the current state of our financial markets certainly gives us all a rude awakening to that fact. All I can do is keep the faith and know that the sun will come out in the morning giving me another opportunity everyday to find a way to may ends meet. In the interim, I will get one of those touted upon payment protection policies to give me peace of mind.

Levying property tax

Property tax is levied on homes on a municipal basis in two parts: for the one who lives in the house, and for the owner of the house. When one has a rental home, he/she should only pay the living part of the tax, where property tax payments are due annually in most cases, although the annual amount is frequently divided into periodic installments. This may involve quarterly payments, which is common with commercial property, where property tax administration is the responsibility of local government. The authority of the department is dependent on assisting local government units in making property tax assessments that are fair and in compliance with the law.
