Americans are finding the cost of health insurance increasing, so that the need for affordable health care is on the rise. Accountants in many companies have been told to cut expenditure and have used the rising cost of providing employee health care as a reason to cut back services. I know this because I am one of those workers; I have a great job and prior to 2006, I also had an amazingly wonderful health care plan. This was a shock to everyone; being told that the health care provider was going to be replaced because the cost was too great. The company was seeking a more cost effective plan that would benefit all of its employees. I am told that the new insurance package is still very good and I'm lucky to have it. The new insurance company may be cheaper for the company but it isn't for me because to have my husband and daughter in the plan costs double what it did with the previous provider. Other than a few exceptions, everyone else seems to benefit from this new arrangement but because I haven't had a raise but I am taking a great deal less home so my family can have health cover. I suppose my health care plan is still good but this new company is not as good as the old one. As far as I and some of my co-workers are concerned, the only real person to benefit form this new ‘affordable' health care arrangement is my company. My last policy took care of all the hospital stay when I had my little boy nearly 3 years ago. Today, if I had a baby, it would cost me around four thousand dollars for my expenses. Keep in mind that although I would have to pay hospital fees, there is also the small matter of my co-pays as well. Fortunately, more affordable health care scheme are being started to help those less fortunate. Options now exist for people that are not supplied with a health provision where they work, and now single mothers have access to plans which they can join; some people can even have free health care. Unfortunately, there are always a few that want to ruin it for the rest and this system is prone to misuse.Perhaps some form of means testing is needed for people so that only genuine cases have the benefit of affordable health care. Taxpayers, such as me, are contributing to the vast number of programs currently available. By switching providers, it was my company that realized the true advantages of this low cost option and a number of employees. Less take home pay was the result of my company's health provider switch with many of its workforce the ones seeing less money to take home for their families. In the long term we really need to do something in America to help those in need find affordable health care. If we want to decrease the budget for health care then in line water filter may be of some help for safe consumption of water.
