If you’re interested in becoming a paralegal the latest trend in the industry is a preference for degree holders in the paralegal field. Such a preference however, does not rule out the possibility of your getting in as a trainee assistant with a lawyer and helping him on case work under his/her supervision. In this case you will learn based on your inherent aptitude for the subject, the interest that you take in the subject, and the lawyer’s expert insights to you. In future the possibility of the US federal government regulating this industry by making paralegal education compulsory is something that cannot be ruled out. You need to take a careful decision in this regard, although the choice is entirely yours.
