What to do about Ringworm
Ringworm (actually a fungus not a worm) can be contracted by your pet in a number or ways, either through contact with infected animals or infected grooming equipment. The fungus can cause a number of kitten health problems including the growth of lesions either in small, round areas about the head, tail, and ears, or over the entire body. In some cases, the fungus can even be mistaken as an autoimmune disease, but there are ways to treat it. They include injectable vaccines, using a special shampoo on the kitten, oral antifungal agents, or, if the kitten is a longhaired breed, shaving it completely. Because ringworm can go into remission from one to four years, it’s a good idea to get check ups.
